Soprano
Madeleine is a 25-year-old soprano, actor, and director holding a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and a Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies from Queensland University of Technology. She was awarded the 2018 Opera Australia Regional Scholarship, undertaking a program with former Director of Music Tahu Matheson and former Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini. Madeleine has performed in Ruddigore or The Witch’s Curse! (2018) with Opera Queensland and Dido and Aeneas (2018) with Queensland Theatre, and during her studies at WAAPA appeared in Orpheus in the Underworld, The Pirates of Penzance (Edith), and Hansel and Gretel (Mother/Gertrud). Upon completing her studies, she received third place in the West Australian Opera Lovers Aria Prize, the Friends of the Academy Grant, and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust Emerging Artist Grant. In 2023, Madeleine attended the Dorset Opera Summer School, working under Artistic Director Roderick Kennedy in Le nozze di Figaro, directed by Paul Carr, and Le Roi de Lahore, directed by Ella Marchment.
In other artistic pursuits, Madeleine wrote, produced, and directed the award-winning physical theatre piece Wheatfield with Crows for Perth FRINGE WORLD 2022, presenting two sold-out seasons. She was also a director in La Boite Theatre’s 2024 Assembly Program.
Madeleine is currently a cantor at the Cathedral of St Stephen and was in 2025 awarded first prize in the Queensland Vocal Competition Operatic Aria, Sacred Song, and English Art Song sections. She is a 2025/2026 Young Artist with Opera Queensland, touring in All Together Now! (2025/2026). Her role credits with Opera Queensland include Leona from In a Grove (2025), and Clorinda (Cover) in La Cenerentola (2025/2026). She is also an Emerging Artist (Soprano, Director, and Producer) and Artistic Committee member with Springboard Opera, and Executive Producer and Stage Director of The Chronicle Singers.
2026 has so far seen Madeleine perform as Thaïs in Springboard Opera’s performance of Massenet’s Thaïs in Bite Sized Opera, as well as credits with their touring production of Argento’s The Boor as Assistant Director, Stage Manager, and Tour Manager.
