Zachary Vella

Baritone

As a musician, Zachary Vella skilfully harnesses an exciting sense of storytelling and entertainment to bring life to all his performances. Having completed a Bachelor Music (Hons First Class) from the University of Queensland, with an extended major in performance, and a Master of Music Studies (with Distinction) in vocal pedagogy from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Zachary has an intimate understanding of how to use his instrument to express genuine dramatic intent and musical meaning when performing. As a young artist, he has proved that he can genuinely express intense and sincere emotion when performing roles such as 2nd in Command in Springboard Opera’s Acis and Galatea, and as a Baritone Soloist for various concerts, such as the RSCM QueenslandinSpires performance of Fauré’s requiem and the Cambrian Choir’s performance of John Rutter’s The Reluctant Dragon and The Wind in the Willows. Some of his other praised performances were in the roles of Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Judas in Bach’s St. Mathews Passion. Outside of onstage performing, he shares his passion for storytelling through private vocal teaching, conducting community ensembles, and children’s musical entertainment so he can help others create and enjoy captivating music.
